The Banker’s Unconventional Leave Request: Comedy Story

How a banker was excited about marriage, and how his Manager replied in a funny way

In the bustling halls of the Bank of America in Colorado, an unmarried banker found himself at a crossroads. Marriage, an age-old tradition, was looming on the horizon, and he was filled with excitement and trepidation. The banker’s father had relayed a message via telecommunications that he was on his way to meet a potential bride for his son. Though no personal invitation had arrived, the banker was eager to join the expedition to lay eyes on the prospective bride.

In an era where the allure of banker grooms had dwindled, and marriage proposals were scarce, the banker had managed to secure a promising connection. The girl in question was nothing short of a dream come true: beautiful, polite, virtuous, and intelligent, akin to the actresses in movies. Time was running out for the banker, and the prospect of marriage was fast approaching. In light of these circumstances, he crafted a heartfelt request for a three-day leave.

The request, addressed to the branch manager, read as follows:

To, Branch Manager

Bank of America, Colorado

Dear Sir,

As you know, marriage is a tradition that has been going on for ages, for which a man is very excited. My father has informed me through telecommunication that he is going to see a girl for me, and although he did not extend an invitation, I wish to join this momentous occasion. The popularity of banker boys has dwindled, and securing marriage proposals for us has become a challenge. It has taken great effort to form this relationship.

The girl in question is exceptionally beautiful, polite, virtuous, and intelligent, much like the actresses in movies. My age for marriage is also fast advancing. Therefore, I humbly request you to grant me a three-day leave. Your kindness in this matter will be greatly appreciated.

Yours faithfully,

With anticipation, the banker awaited the branch manager’s response, hoping for a positive outcome. The manager, wise and pragmatic, acknowledged the banker’s desires and concerns, offering words of wisdom about the timeless nature of marriage. He emphasized the belief that marriages were predestined by a higher power and that everything would unfold as it should.

The manager’s response, addressed to the aspiring groom, conveyed his message with a touch of humor and a deep understanding of human relationships:

To,

Dear

Going to be a Married Banker,

I have learned of your wishes and concerns. Marriage is a tradition that has stood the test of time, and it is a prevailing belief in our theistic society that marriages are divinely ordained. Wherever it is meant to be, it will be so, with or without your presence.

Both the God above in heaven and your earthly father place their trust in divine planning. Rest assured that things will work out even if you don’t attend the initial meeting. I, too, have faith that once the marriage is confirmed, your leave request will be considered.

As your superior, I would like to offer some advice. Your recent endeavors, especially during the challenging times of the pandemic, have left traces on your face. It might not be the best first impression for the girl to see. I am concerned that if she sees you now, she might reconsider the relationship. For your own benefit, I must decline your leave request.

Go wholeheartedly and fulfill your responsibilities, so your relationship can be cemented. Trust in the divine plan, my dear, and let the journey begin.

The manager’s unconventional response left the banker in a state of humorous bewilderment, as he prepared to embark on the unconventional journey of marriage, leaving behind the quest for a short leave and taking the manager’s advice to heart. And so, the banker set out on this comical adventure, all in the name of love and tradition, with the hopes of finding his happily ever after.
